Western Wordsmiths chapter theme:

“The Power of Words: Heritage, Creativity, Service”

Words can change lives. We strive to honor our rich western heritage, unleash our creativity through the written and spoken word, and serve our fellow writers and our profession.

The purpose of the Western Wordsmiths chapter is to preserve, support, and advance the history, literature, and performance of cowboy poetry and other forms of western writing. The chapter is for poets, writers, western novelists, lyricists, songwriters, supporters – and fans!

Western Wordsmiths is a chapter of the International Western Music Association. Membership is unlimited by state or region. Western Wordsmiths strives to support its members through multiple activities: Quarterly zoom calls offering professional development and networking, a “Penned by Lantern Light” feature which highlights excellent member poetry in every issue of the Western Way magazine, an initiative to support youth poetry, a poetry contest at the international convention, an online listing of events where members could perform, and more.
